Dear Dr. Cory:

Haloween is coming up and kids get lots of candy. How much candy should we have each day?

Katie

Spokane, Washington

Dear Katie:

You and your parents should decide how much is best for you. One or two small pieces a day for the following week or so might be a good idea. Candy is usually full of calories, sugar, or fat, and few, if any, nutrients. Leaving it around a long time after Halloween might tempt you to snack a lot and gain extra weight.
