At the time of its publication, the critics said that the book probably wouldn't have made it into print if Jewel hadn't already attained fame with her album that had by then sold 10 million copies. But I feel that it's quite refreshing that teenage fads have suddenly started to include reading a book. I recommend buying the book for a teenager whom you would like to encourage to take an interest in reading or writing poetry, or exploring one's feelings through journal writing.
